We are excited and happy to inform everyone that Two Time Breast Cancer Survivor and CBS WUSA9 TV Host of Great Day Washington, Kristen Berset-Harris will be the Master of Ceremony during the FILIPINO AMERICAN CANCER CARE RUNWAY FOR A CURE FUNDRAISING GALA and FASHION SHOW scheduled on Saturday, October 28, 6:30pm (ET) at Marriott Hotel Fairview Park in Falls Church, Virginia to benefit cancer patient beneficiaries in the Philippines and United States. The special event will be directed by Outstanding Fashion Director BUBOI ASUNCION of MGI PRODUCTION and will feature the designs and collections of four talented and World Class FASHION DESIGNERS CARL ANDRADA, JHAY LAYSON, KIEL ORTEGA and EDWIN UY.
Kristen spent 6 years as WUSA9 Sports Anchor before joining the team at Great Day Washington in Washington DC. She still keeps up on all the sports news, while bringing viewers the latest and greatest that the DC area has to offer.
In June 2017, Kristen was honored by the National Capital Chesapeake Bay Chapter of the Emmy Awards with the Ted Yates Award. It’s the chapter’s ‘Profile of Courage’ award given to professionals in the news business who have exhibited bravery on and off the job.
Kristen returned to WUSA9 in August 2017 after completing treatment for her second bout with breast cancer, and continues to be a strong advocate for awareness and early detection.
Kristen’s career began on the white sandy beaches of her home state of Florida. Kristen was a news anchor at WJHG in Panama City, Fla., and co-host of the Professional Tarpon Tournament Series, a fishing show broadcast around the nation.
She and the rest of the Tarpon Crew traveled to Kuwait and Iraq, toured the countries and put on a fishing tournament for over 400 U.S. servicemen and women and their allies at Z Lake on Victory Base Complex in Baghdad. Kristen won the Florida Chapter Associated Press award for a 4 part series of her trip called "Journey to Freedom."
Her journey then took her from the Sunshine State to Charm City, shifting her focus 100% to Sports.
Kristen was Weekend Sports Anchor for WBFF in Baltimore, MD and part of a team that won the Chesapeake Bay Region Associated Press award
for Best Year Round Sports Coverage.
Kristen was also Host of the Emmy winning show ‘Ravens Report”, the flagship program for the Baltimore Ravens that showcases life in the NFL.
Kristen is a graduate of the University of Florida with a degree in Telecommunications and continues to be an avid Gators fan. She was the 2004 Miss Florida USA and a semi-finalist in the Miss USA finals.
